need number for power steering pump ...
I have a 1999 Bounder motor home. It was built on an F53 chassis with a v10.
I believe the power steering pump is dead (hard to turn, wheel will not return to neutral, small squeal when I start engine and the fluid smells burnt.).
I wanted to find a part number for the pump so I can go to my local parts place and get one.
Most of the parts on this unit have been the same as a F550. No local dealer has a reference for an F53 chassis.
I am hoping the pump is the same as on other trucks. It has a remote reservoir.
Thanks ... Mike

I will take these #'s and the pump down to the local parts store this morning and see if they can match it up!
We are living in the RV and using it to move at the same time.
On top of this, my wife is in a wheelchair and it is almost impossible to find a place she could stay at for a few days while ford orders parts.
Thanks so much ..... Mike
Even the local mechanic could not identify which pump I had.
I finally pulled up picture of every pump and found it is the first one you listed :Cardone 21-5184
Of coarse no one has one in stock in the area!
Dealer wanted $415 for one. I found one on the web for $65 plus a $25 core.
It should be here in a few days.
Everyone kept telling me it could not be this pump as it was an "import" ... guess what, they were wrong.
Thanks for all your help!
Just FYI ... here is the handicapped modified motor home it is going on ... I made a picture book showing the modifications I made:

9U9Z-3A674-B (replaced F81Z-3A674-BA) .. P/S Pump / Use with: 20,500 GVWR (20,000 lb. GVWR is not listed).

Tousley Ford in White Bear Lake MN has an EZ to use online parts catalog.
P/S pumps can look pretty much the same, but looks can be deceiving. I hope the pump you bought for 65 bucks is correct.
Is there any way of checking which pump would have been used on my unit?
Is there way of using the VIN to check?
I can call or write Cardone and make sure their pump cross references with the Ford #.
I understand Ford parts being more expensive. They are new as opposed to being rebuilt. What I don't understand is how the same Cardone part (same part #) can range from $65 to $300 !
Is one rebuilt pump better than another?
Is there any other pump I should look at?
Is a new Ford pump worth 4 to 6 times the price of a rebuilt one? If so, why?
Thanks .... Mike

So after all is said and done, I crawled under the motor home and tried to read the # on the pump.
It is hard to read but it does seem to be the F81Z-3A674-AA ( I can make out most of the number .... especially the AA at the end).
So now the question ... other than a factory original, where can I find an aftermarket pump?
I tried every parts store around, no one could cross reference this #.
Cardone shows two pumps ... I think it is the 21-5184 but I want to make sure.
Where can I find a cross reference for this pump?
Thanks .... Mike
Many dealers do not give out part numbers, contact Tousley Ford for assistance (free service, no obligation to buy anything).
Since the difference in the pumps has to do with specific GVWR's, it will be printed on your F53's Certification Label along with the VIN, codes for Axle, Trans, Paint and a gazillion other things.
Dunno where the "glued on" Certification Label is located on F53's. Possibly on the left (drivers) side B pillar below the door striker plate.
Oversized tub in my sig pic: Label glued towards the bottom of the left door face below the latch.
Cardone may have a cross reference: Their part number to Ford part number. I kinda doubt FoMoCo dealers will have this reference.
Looking at the old pump, it has some strange nut on the pulley.
Looking at the new pump, it has a smooth outer shaft, a hex in the center and a thread deep down beyond the hex.
How do I get the old pulley off and then back on the new pump?
Thanks ... Mike
