Every 3rd day the gas cap light or emissions light come on.
On one day the gas cap light comes on, put on a new Motorcraft gas cap. cleared light.
On the 3rd day the emission light comes on (PO 455) I checked for possible leaks.(took down the canister tray and checked everything there) cleared code.
It alternates every 3rd day between the two warning lights.
What should I check, other than taking it for a smoke test, first?
If it was either the purge valve, solenoid valve, or check valve, don't they have their on individual trouble codes?
A canister vent valve stuck open will cause this problem, but if any of the other named parts have a fault, it would have to be an electrical circuit fault for it to have a fault code that points to the specific part.
The CV valve is usually on or adjacent to the canister.
I have no idea if the o-ring is bad. That's why I told you to take it to a shop with a smoke machine, they will be able to spot the leak very quickly and you won't drive yourself crazy.
