Hey guys, been lurking on this site awhile now and have picked up a ton of great info. Have a 2001 F-350, mostly stock, added 6637 with cover and orderded 4" mbrp exaust. Recently flushed the power steering with new synthetic ATF, old stuff was incredibly dirty. Saw immediate improvement in brakes but didn't really see much improvement in steering. Now I am noticing a whine like the system is low on fluid, but it isn't. Any ideas? Should I flush again? Put four and a half quarts through the last time.
I should add that this is my first diesel, I was lucky enough to have my 2005 V-10 totaled from a 70mph head on collision with a drunk driver. Kept the insurance money in my pocket for almost a year until I finally found a 7.3 in a like new body. Love the heck out of this truck. Right at 207000 miles now. Not exactly the most mechanically competent individual, but trying to do what I can.
Thanks for any help on this, you guys are already costing me money!
U may try jacking the front end up and turning all the way each direction. When u get to the end of the turn, hold it over for a few seconds at a time. it may just have air trapped in it.
Lucky to be alive and lucky to get the 7.3. Patrolman told me the only reason I survived was because the front of Fords are built like a tank. Said make sure and buy another one, so I did. Unfortunatly the accident cost a young four year old riding with his grandpa in the other rig his life. Man who was driving drunk got ten years with ten years suspended, unreal Montana DUI laws. It was his third DUI. Loaded up a couple pics of the old truck in my album.
To try and get air out do I just jack it up and hold it at full turn? Did that when I was flushing it, but will try it again. Thanks guys.
Other guy was driving one of the new full size Nissan trucks. Was doing about eighty when he lost control and turned sideways right in front of me. T-boned him and he spun and hit me again on my drivers side. Took them about thirty minutes to cut me out. Not a whole lot left of his truck. I was doing sixty at the time.
