Will someone tell me if the whoosh I hear when it upshifts is the waste gate opening? And if it's normal? Sounds like a big rig air system venting the air compressor...except only when the engine is loaded up.
Thanks Mike and Joe. I moved to this forum before I read your answer, MIke. Thank you. So, Joe, is this what people use the ww to try and cure? You did say it mostly doesn't hurt anything...what does that mean? It's gotta be whooshing out the air filter, right? Is it hard on the turbo? The intake system?
And I've read and read and I can't really find anywhere that boost has much effect on power. Why do people try to increase boost by messing with the waste gate?

Ah... I might know this one (but get more input). The turbo is just more air, which is not power by itself. The increased air flow assists in cooling the exhaust and helps the atomized fuel to "flash" burn. Take off the turbo and you have a smokey dog with a hot exhaust (fuel burns slower and incompletely). Bump the turbo up to a bigger one with a tuner to add more fuel (more air facilitates more fuel) and you've got a clean screamer that stays cool.
Well, thanks Rich. That makes sense to me . And Rick, yes, I first started noticing the whoosh after the 6637 install. So, I guess I'm good to go until I get my buckzooka reloaded!?
Your fine with the sound. All my turbo cars have had it, and both of my trucks do. The only difference between the cars and these trucks is that on the cars I could use a blow off valve that releases the air instead of coming back through the filter. Havent see anyone on here stating if this is possible on trucks or not.

The ww (wicked wheel) is a fix for turbo surge, which is different from the whoosh after shifts you are hearing. Boost DOES affect power. And you are right, get that "buckzooka" loaded. Your adventure is just starting.
