I have a 97 F-Superduty I have been building and need help on a few more problems I am working on. The vehicle was sitting in a farm yard for a few years before I got a hold of it to recover it. After much work, I am down to death wobble and vss issues. The death wobble, a violent shimmy in the front suspension capable if ripping the rig apart, is new and is getting worse. This is a 2wd with a solid beam in the front, almost like having a solid front axle. Typically a bad caster angle creates the wobble, as far as I know, but this is stock. Suggestions?
Also, the vss seems to be going in and out. This effects the shifting of the tranny. The vss in the diff in new so any suggestions on that?
For the death wobble I would recommend jacking it up and giving each wheel a good wiggle to see if there is any slop in your ball joints (or is the F-SD a king pin axle?) or tie rod ends.
For the VSS, take a careful look at the pigtail between the VSS and the frame. They're known to rub on things (usually the shock absorber) and chafe the wires causing it to read inconsistently.
