brake controller help

i have a 2000 f250. i plugged in a brake controller and have a green light when its hooked up but it only works if i slide the lever manually. doesnt work just by pushing the brakes. what could be wrong? thanks

Lots of different brake controllers. You might mention what brand and model that you have. I am going to guess that it has more to do with your controller then your truck if you are able to make it work by manually controlling it. You may want to do a "google" search for the brand/model of your controller to see if you can find out if it needs to be level, calibrated, etc.
