I believe I have my problem figured out from searching and reading on here but just want to verify. Today while coming home from work, I noticed that the truck struggled to get to 10 lbs of boost. It would roll out tons of black smoke and would finally build boost to a normal level after a while. It did over boost one time and I let off as soon as it did. I believe my turbo needs a good cleaning. I just cleaned the EGR valve last week and it was nasty. Any help would be great.
No I don't. I do run it hard but only about once a week. If you try to power brake the truck it will hot about 8 lbs and hold with hardly any smoke. Once you drive it and are full throttle you can't see anything behind me. What is an easy way to check those two sensors?
ScanGaugeII easiest way to check those sensors
You must have a Stock Boost Gauge and FYI they are Good Ones some the other gauges on the dash SUCK but BOOST gauge is GOOD
After you get threw this ordeal just go WOT occssionaly you dont have to go fast either just get the Boost to 24-28psi Boost anymore than 28psi boost Back Off it
Odds are its the Turbo dirty you have classic signs being OverBoost
But since EGR valve was Caked with SOOT going to be a Great Idea to check MAP and EBP Tubes make shure they are Clear and not plugged
You have a Couple other things going on so I wonder if clean turbo will fix it all
Get a ScangaugeII its worth it for shure plus need to check other things out too for reliability
NEED a ScanGaugeII to check these^^^^^^or thats the easy way could do with a DVM but would be More involved
First # Ford Second # International if you have an International dealer close they usually cheaper

Sorry for the
Some thing that can change you day is going
by what the parts guy's book says. Three different
size of u-joint and get home to find out WRONG
only one size. At least I do have one of the three.
Alright well now I have a new symptom. It did throw a code last night and got them checked after work. It ran fine all day until tonight. Now the truck is surging a little at idle. It is jumping up and down a few hundred RPM like it is loping. The code it threw is P2290. So now I seem to think that wither my FICM or ICP is bad.
Going to give an update on my problem. It seemed that my alternator went bad and cooked my batteries. My FICM was also real bad and thanks to Ed it is better than new. So far I a new alternator, 2 new batteries and a new FICM. Well since then, the truck has ran great until Monday. It started surging at highway speeds. It threw the low ICP Pressure code again. I changed the ICP sensor and the surging has stopped at higher RPM but now has a small miss at idel. Could my IPR be bad now or what else causing the miss like that in the lower rpm range.
Not at the moment. Ed at FICMRepair told me to use HotShots so I picked some up this week. I will add that the truck as full power. I did have an injector scan done and there isn't any misfires on them. I did clean the egr valve again once this happened and it cleared up a little. I still haven't checked the EBP valvle yet. The only 3 things I haven't completly ruled out is the EBP, IPR, and EGR.
I dropped the truck back off at the mechanic this morning. He called me about noon and gave me the results from the HPOP air test. He found no leaks in the system. He rechecked my IPR values after the new ICP install and all is in range. He seems to think he didn't clear the code out after he scanned it the first time. He did notice that if he unplugged my EGR valve that the miss was there but you had to really look and listen for it. Once the truck cam up to temps it seemed to clear up pretty well. He is leaning toward my EGR valve is needing to be replaced.
