Wait a minute... that looks personal. Gated community - assaulted pride-and-joy - tools still there. Joy ride, but by somebody that knows your truck. Pissed off any neighbor teens lately? Unhappy ex? Neighbor gripe about anything related to the truck?
Man... I feel for ya. My wife and I were commenting on how shocked we were to watch "Stinky" get assaulted in front of our eyes. It's just metal, rubber, and glass - but we pour so much of ourselves into it. To have it disappear then come back looking like that....
The time we put into these things is unrecoverable - period. The money we put into them can be recovered, but we have to "mod" our insurance like we do our trucks. Look at KBB or some other vehicle-pricing site and that's what our truck is worth to the outside world - and the insurance company. Just look at the stuff on the truck - lostmybeer isn't going to get anything for that unless he bought an insurance rider for the augmentation. He's probably dukin' it out with the insurance company because they won't pay more than stock repair - if it doesn't exceed the KBB price. If repairs do exceed KBB... aw crap.
I never have or never will have full coverage on any of my vehicles. If something happens I take the hit. I figured with the money I saved from insurance over the years I could take a full loss and still be ahead.
This really sucks LMB. Very sorry to see the pics, I would be just sick as well. If you have full insurance and they want to total it, might be the best. They will give a chance to buy it back for cheap then you can part it out. Or if not totaled have it fixed.
Well after a few years of debating on a Ravelco, due to recent events like this thread and some other local thefts, I decided to break down and purchase this unit and had it installed today. While the unit may be good, I am less than impressed with the service and the resolution of my issue. I ask the guy for the key chains that hold the plug and he tells me he does not have any but I can get similar items from Lowes??? When the guy is finished and starts putting his tools away I ask him if everything works and he tells me yes. I go to activate the alarm system that I had already on the truck and it does not work. Guy spends another 90 minutes trying to get the old system to activate and finally gives up to go to another job. He suggests I take it back to the place I had install the alarm (130 miles from here) and see if they can figure it out. MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT from this company today and I have no intention of recommending them to anyone.
The trying to side track the thread but yes, that is exactly what happened. The new system is in and the old system does not work. I did get a call from the district rep and he apologized for the system no longer working but that still does not fix it. I have to drive down to San Diego and see if they can fix it which I am sure is not going to be cheap. I guess they can take this claim off of their web site “The Ravelco will not affect any other item you have installed in your vehicle”

man that sucks....i think you got an installer that doesnt give a ratzazz....my installer came to my house (indianapolis from chicago) and was cool as heck....of course i didnt have an alarm system on my truck....
Well, last Friday, recieved a photo enforcement ticket in the mail. The person who stole my truck was doing 75 in a 45. The back page showed his picture and the truck!!! Also was able to watch a video. Now I know who I'm looking for.
Monday morning, headed to work, I was stopped by a Mesa police officer...courtesy stop. Just checking to see if it really was me driving. A truck was recovered in the area earlier in the morning. Possibly the same person?? I happened to mention about the ticket and picture. Of course, I did not have it with me. Will start carrying it now.
Today, received a call from a Mesa Police Detective asking to view my ticket. He had mentioned my comment to the officer who had stopped me about the picture. Also, mentioned he had a possible suspect in custody!!! The detective wanted to see the picture just to verify they have the right person. There's some proof right there. Returned home and contacted the detective, just to let him know I was home and he could come get the copy. At the time I called, he was in the process of serving a search warrant at the suspects home.... Hopefully they find my lost items and everyone elses that lost items too. Make this guy pay for our repairs!!!
Great news!!! lets hope they get this guy and he pays... would it be out of line to ask the arresting officer for a few minutes alone with the gentelman, I think "The Brotherhood" has a few words to say to him
