Swap axle ?????

so my cousin has a true 70s high boy with a solid axle under and i wanna know if it will bolt up as far as everything is concered with brakes and mounts and just everything thats under the front of it can it be bolted up to the front of my truck which is an 85? i am really curious because if so then i would be happy because my truck would then sit level and stop looking like a mexican ride with air bags in the *** end lol

its a low pinion, drum braked, D44. Depending on year could have closed knuckles too, and its setup for push-pull steering.

Just not a good axle.

those leafs were built for a 360 or a 400 to sit on. Not a diesel.

Leafs are a different length (can't remember exact numbers), that's why the 99-04 leafs are a bolt in for the 70s trucks, but not the 80s trucks.

Look for a parts F350 truck or an 80s-90s Dana 60 to swap in there, or at least the Diesel F350 springs (they ride flat, not arched in) if you're just looking to level it out.

F350 springs in the front of an F250 is a bad idea, the solid axle springs are actualy a softer spring rate than the F250 springs because of the leverage the TTB puts on the spring. only option for raising the front is an Add-A-Leaf, new springs, or an RSK.

You could also make sure the front isn't sagging. Some causes are worn spring bushings and shackles. People have replaced all their front bushings and got a 1" lift over what they had...
