Took my truck to the local auto parts store and they do error code testing for free.
THey said that it was throwing codes showing glow plugs 1, 3, 5 & 7 are bad. From what I have read, it is most likely the GPCM? or harness?
The truck starts fine and seems to run fine as well. I bought new glow plugs but don't want to tear off the valve covers if I don't have to.
Go to the Diesel forum and see all the posts about the costs of maintenance and add that into the factor. Then the cost per mile goes up quite a bit. If you never have the problems that so many seem to have, you will surely have the near perfect truck.

Hmm, it could be me but it seems like you only mentioned the cost of fuel, to which I responded. Now you're changing the story to include maintenance, which changes how I would've figured my response.

You're starting to sound like the "Mean Greenie" now. I mentioned noise, stench and fuel cost. You would automaticlly figure the cost of maintenance into the cost per mile.
What ever happened with him? Has he gone elsewhere? Forever?
