I live in garland tx, and i do not trust the ford company with my truck at all everytime i have gone there i have more problems than when i took it in there.
So please if you know a honest diesel mechanic that is not over priced please let me know i am having a misfire issue, and it is just getting worse and worse. I have tried asking for the help on here but i just do not have the tools or the knowledge to do some of the testing. i tried my FICM and it read 47 i believe so it was not that the only thing i can think of is injector and i do not know how to test them so yeah,, again
If you are gonna drive a 6.0 and work (or troubleshoot) on it yourself, you MUST have SOME tools. The least you should have for people on here to help you is the ScanGauge II. Sorry to say this, if you can't afford at least this, you can not afford to work on your 6.0. You will save MUCH more than what the Scan Gauge will cost!
If you need professional help for your ailing diesel, I would suggest you call Paul (service writer) at the Ford agency in Lewisville. I do all the maintenance work on my truck but for heavy duty repairs, I take it to them and he has treated me well for 9 years. Paul drives a 7.3 diesel and actually knows quite a bit about diesels. The mechanic, Tom, is excellent.
I bought my truck in 2003 in Frisco and the folks in the service department really were more atuned to small gassers. They tried, but just did not have the experience.
Lastly, I would recommend that you see if you can get a Ford used car warranty for you truck. I have had my share of troubles with injectors and turbochargers etc. and I was glad to have the warranty. This is the only vehicle I have ever felt the need to buy a warranty for and I have owned cars and trucks for 50 years. While I might be able to do some of the heavy duty work on a cool fall or winter day at home, I need the assurance that with the 5th wheel in tow, I can go to the local Ford house when I am 600+ miles from home.
Thank you all for the response. And bob yeah i do a lot myself but i do not have diagnostic tools. also i work 7 days a week and do not have a lot of time anymore to do much of anything let alone work on my truck. i wish i did i do not trust very many mechanics for some reason.
