help with 05 conversion...

Good morning gentleman. Here is where I stand with the conversion....precut 05 grill with billet grille, and 05 oem headlights being shipped this morning. The grille was installed last nite around midnight....

My question is I'm considering going with a aftermarket header panel then cutting the current panel on the truck. Will the 05 panel bolt up and and fit properly with the 2000 bumper and grill I currently have? Or must I upgrade the rest of the front end? Thanks in advance for your help and have a good day....

Here is a pic from last night please excuse how dirty my truck is she was sitting in a dirt lot for almost a month. Gonna wash it later today after work....

I am currently in the process of doing this same thing. I have been debating as to changing out the entire front end with the 05 header panel, 05 bumper with new brackets, 05 grille, and lights which I have already. OR doing the cutting on the header panel to make the lights fit and cutting down the grille to make it fit and keep the 00 bumper. Problem is you can't mix and match more than you already have with the grille and the cutting for the lights from what I have found out. And maybe someone else can jump in and correct me if Im wrong. But the 05 header panel will direct bolt up but you will have to change out the bumper and brackets to match the 05 header panel. The 00 bumper and brackets wont work on that header panel. Another problem is you have cut down your existing 05 grille to match your 00 bumper so now if you change the header panel there will be a large gap between the grille and 05 bumper so another grille would have to be put on. So its cut the grille down and cut the header panel for the lights and keep the current bumper or change out the whole thing. Again someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

I just hung up the phone mkmcustoms, the people I bought the grill from and according to them a 05 panel will work with what I got just fine. On the other hand I would like some more insite before I pull the trigger on a new panel...

If you have a precursor bumper switching header panels wont matter. It wont clip into either.

If you cut your grill don't get a Harley grill. There isn't enough material there to keep the middle section stretched to the outer. Ask me how i figured that out.

I'd say go find a ln 05-07 bumper and header panel. Changes the whole look of the truck. I can post pics if needed of a cut Harley grill 05 lights and 99-03 bumper vs a full 05-07 conversion. Looks much cleaner without cutting IMHO

The bottom of the grill has four little snap pieces. They hold the bottom of the grill to the header panel. If you cut your grill they get chopped off. If you switch to an 05-07 header panel the clips will be down further. So if you go 05-07 header pansies and decide to go with a full 05-07 Convo the new grill will fit perfectly.

Make sense???
