I have an 01 f350, I recently put a ranch hand bumper off of an 05+, and it fits fine except theirs a gap between the bumper and the grill, not real noticeable, but I know its there
So my question is would I be able to swap an 05+ grill on my truck without messing with the header panel?
Yes it should fit with no issues. Just compare the mount tab locations. Plenty of 2004 and older trucks will trim the lower part of the 2005-2007 grills to fit.
For an 05 grille on an 04 header panel the bottom punting tabs will not line up because the 05-07 grilles use 5 mounting clips instead of 4. However you can drill a hole through the tabs behind the clips and wrap a zip tie around it. Lots of people do this so that they do not have to swap the header panels, I myself just got the header panel because i was doing headlights and all. If you plan to stay with the stock 01 style lights then id just do the zip ties.
the 99-04 header panel top matches the 05-07 header panel exactly
however
the 99-04 header panel bottom sits higher than the 05-07 header panel bottom edge, and as mentioned above, they have a different number of snaps
you can use a 05+ grill easily with your 99-04 panel. just screw the 4 screws along the top, and then use some zip ties to secure the bottom edge. I did a partial 05+ conversion on my Excursion. I have 05+ lights and the 05+ header panel with a 2002 grill installed. waiting to find a 05+ bumper to finish.
with that bumper you have, you might have to cut the 05+ grill down a tiny bit. I'm betting though that a 05+ grill will drop right in without modifications.
