I've got a simple little question..at least I suppose so.
I'm taking the 460 motor out of my 58F100 and hoping to leave the tranny in place etc. And I forget how to disconnect the torque converter.
I unfastened the four nuts that hold it to the motors flex plate, and was expecting to just push it back a bit-- the torque converter. But its not budging? Its loose I can take a stud and rock the converter side to side etc. and i hear it clanking against the flex plate. But it won't be pushed back in off the flexplate.
Do I need to lift the converter a little or something as I push it back? Something like that. I put it on their years ago but its been awhile. And I've never much had automatics so this is new to me.
Just pull the motor, it will separate if all 4 nuts are off & the 2 bottom engine plate to bell housing bolts. They don't move back much that you would notice it. Sometimes the pilot can get rusted in but a few jerks and it will be loose.
