EGR Valve Question

My 1994 150 six cyl was running rough, surging, check engine light on sporadically. I did a bunch of things but finally changed the EGR valve. Seemed to help but gradually started running rough again, missing, like a plug or two was bad, and check engine light came on So I changed the plugs. Now runs fine, no check engine light.

My question: could running the truck quite a while with a bad EGR valve fouled out the plugs, which in turn caused rough running, check engine light on?

Why not check the codes and see what the computer is trying to tell you?

Seems better then guessing to me.

When I replaced my EGR, I did the plugs as well, wouldn't hurt it. I had the same problem
