It used to be duty, but they've pretty much waved that. Still BC is the highest taxed province in the country which makes it almost counter productive to buy things locally.

It's extremely common place to see companies jacking up "international" shipping costs, especially on ebay. I'm barely an hour over the border, I have a few people that help me out on moving things over for me. I'm thinking a buddy and I might go in on a PO box together.

Not hard to mod if they are too long, it's short that will get you.

I see that this is where you and I differ, when I get something the first thing I want to do is take it apart and modify it.

shipping is high because of the weight. Buy the wire local from a welding supply shop

napa can make you cables any size you like.

yeah,then you can have ends crimped on so you can just use a marine terminal.these sure have been some nice over the (almost 3 yr now) ownership.
i went with 3/0 tinned marine cable and ends and had them crimped at napa.
here's an old pic;
