i tried that cable and it is too long.......about a foot to long, so there is no way to use it. you would also have to make a wire to go from the fender mounted starter relay down to the starter solenoid.
i ended up getting my cable from rock auto. it is actually a ford/motorcraft part.
if you want i can try to find the invoice from my cable and get the part number.
I thought about getting them, but there is no way to get them up here in Canada except by opening a PO box over the border, or having them shipped to a buddies house. Found a set on ebay even, guy wouldn't ship them over the border. I've gone the route of just using a vice grip to tighten the ****ty lead ones on the posts, and tightening the bolts as heavily as I can, and I'm hoping for the best. Tired of them jumping off when off road. Would have been a dicey trip the other day if I hadn't done 3g swap, nice to have a alternator that can cut it for a change.
Ford wants like $200 for the cables, thinking I'll just build my own for 1/4 of the price.
I was looking at the Motorcraft part at RockAuto but wondered if the OReileys' part was a good value.Always tryin' to save a buck but we do want the truck starting in cold weather.
Egads.... they might have great selection, but look at that shipping. That is highway robbery right there.
He bought welding cable from local store to save money. Oriellieys has it listed for 3.99 a foot.
I have a Peterbilt and when I need a cable i go to one of the old, priveately onwned parts stores that sells parts for big trucks and they have battery cable on a roll, and the ends in drawer and will crimp the ends on it for you.
I do like the idea of the solder since it keeps the air out and should slow corrosion. I might have to try it I have just about reached the end of my cable life.
Of course i have been know to take a piece of solid copper wire pound it flat and thin and wrap it around the battery terminal. After you open up the old terminal and slip it back on over the wire it acts like a washer and take up the slack in the terminal. It works perfectly you just have to deal with it or repeat it every time you take the cables loose

Fine print my friend, it helps to read it, it'll always get you.
That's why you need a friend in the US that doesn't mind putting a new address on the box and shipping to you. Is there some kind of tax or something is it just people trying to skrew you because you live across the border.
