Ok here's my situation. I have an 03 F250 with a 6.0 and was driving today with my snap-on modis hooked up and was watching my EOT and ECT. It was about 102 deg outside and running 70mph I was getting 183 ECT and 217EOT. Ok the engine oil cooler is plugged I'm thinking. I do have the EGR unplugged, and have plans in the next week or so to flush the cooling system as at 94k I have no knowlege of it ever being done. During this flush, is it possible to restore flow to the eoc or must it be replaced? I'm planning on replacing the thermostat while it's out, so any other suggestions while I'm there? Yes, going to use distilled water and refill w/ either ford gold or cat elc. I'm considering the cat elc due to having a supply of it at work and would be free for me. Also will be adding a coolant filter also.
SS Screen under oil cooler
Turbo hardware kit
Blue spring For the FPR
Intake Gaskets can be reused but Im anel that way plus it comes with the Updated Blue Hose. if you have the original orange hose they can leak so best to change it
Coolant filter
Can't say if it has the blue spring or not, but can say it has 64 lbs @ idle. So I'm going to return the kit I already got from the dealer. Any chances of getting the EOC flushed out manually?
Plug the EGR valve back in when you test the deltas.
If you have an updated strategy in the ECM/FICM
you could be not running with a fan and that could
mess with the delta testing. But by the ## it's
time to replace it. You can back flush the cooler and hope
Remove the lower radiator hose and the little cover back
by the EGR cooler inlet hose and use a small bit of host
to make the end fit in so it won't leak and pulse the water
to break up the junk. It may work for a short time but it will
come back.
BLADE35 knows more on this and can tell you what I may of missed
So basically I just as well figure on replacing the cooler? No point wasting time on it if it's only a band-aid, as fixing the problem now usually will be cheaper than not. Thats what I wanted to know. I'm unsure of the pcm flash, and once I get the toilet paper plates out of the window I'll take it in to the local dealer and check/flash the pcm.
Yes I just bought the pickup about 2 weeks ago, but for what i'm into it I can afford to put some more into it and be happy. i'm sure another $600 will be cheaper than not doing it right.
