Stupid is as Stupid Does

A word to the wise do not use a solvent type cleaner on the woodgrain dash bezel. I had a piece of velcro on my dash bezel of which the adhesive dried up leaving an ugly strip on the simulated woodgrain finish.
I applied some adhesive remover to a rag and before I knew it the woodgrain disappered with the glue being removed. Now the dash is even uglier. I priced out a new bezel @ 192.50 which I will have to purchase to make my baby well again.

Was the solvent like a "goo gone" type adhesive remover? I ask, because that stuff is no too strong and wouldnt think it would do that to the trim...just want to know for possible future use.

I use wd-40 for glue removal. It doesn't work as well, but it hasn't destroyed a finish yet.

You could always wrap it with some carbon fiber if you are in to that.

Paint it the same color as the truck. Along with a few other pieces of the interior. Sorta like a harley truck.

Yep I thought about painting it, but I would prefer to have it look like it did before the damage. Going to have my dealer order a new bezel tomorrow, and probably install it as well. From now on if it don't have a suction cup it ain't going on the dash. Just thought maybe this post would spare another owner the same grief.

Find a sticker to put over it, if it still bothers you can still change it.

Nah, I'm with you - I'd have cried and then made sure it was replaced. I actually like the fake wood grain.
