probably dumb scanguage II ?
alright guys. 07 6.0L bone stock. Just rolled over 90,000 miles. Ford dealer replaced my egr cooler and head gaskets 10,000 miles ago under warranty. Lately when pulling heavy loads (10-15,000 lbs) my wrench light comes on and the engine derates. I've decided it's time for some monitoring and possibly mods so my question is will the scangauge 2 read codes? or do i need to go with a tuner? Thanks.
BTW love the website...it has been very helpful

The scangauge will tell you when you have codes, but it doesn't do that great at reading them IMO. Neither does the Edge CTS.
I think the DashDAQ does better than the others, but the AutoEnginuity is the best.
Really, having a dealership read the codes is not that expensive - just another option.
As far as the ScanGauge goes, it can read enough parameters that you could probably figure out the cause of the wrench light (over boost, oil temp delta, low voltage, APP issue).

Mark is Right
Those of us with the SGII dont reliy on the SGII to be able to see our DTC/CEL
It will pick up every sensor on the 6.0L that the PCM is using or watching so normaly we can figure it out
If you can tell the trucks Defueling then its probably getting Hot and you may have a Plugged OIL COOLER
Better do something Fast before it turns to a CATASTROPIC FAILURE
Iv used my SGII several times to figure out my truck issues Found a Plugged Oil Cooler and was able to figure out a NO-Start the other day
Good Luck

Oh if its a wrench code SGII wont get it and NOT many Tunners will either
Theres a Diffrench Between CEL and Wrench Light
CEL are more common and alot of code readers will read them Alot are Generic Codes like emmisions codes fall into the Generic Codes
Wrench Light are more Dealer Specific Codes and not to many scanners will get those
Your Also Better off to Get a ScanGaugeII than an EDGE Gauge Edge wont get all the sensors and stuff
IMO its either a ScanGaugeII or AE with the Ford Enhanced package
with AE being the BEST for us DIYers
And Welcome to FTE

i would love to get my hands on the AE. ford enhanced package? how different is that from the powerstroke package?
tat AE can be expensive too. as soon as my repairs and replacements are done, i'll definitely get an AE.
btw, just out of curiosity, does the AE have a MAC-compatible software? i only use Apple computers and i hate to have to touch them stinking microsoft windows. yeah i finally got it out. freedom!!!
