Do not expect any miracles from this, however IMO it is worth the total of 10-15 seconds it takes to pull the plug on it. Doing so will generate two Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the PCM - P0400 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Error) and P0407 (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor A Circuit Low). Neither of these codes will trigger the check engine light, and can easily be cleared with a tuner, scanner, or by simply unplugging the battery.
I saw this in the EGR defeat sticky and was wondering if I can have trouble codes without knowing it? No CEL and yet have trouble codes? I have an SCT programmer that can read codes but are there active trouble codes that I may not be able to see with my SCT programmer that plugs into the OBD port?
The SCT is NOT a good code reader in any form or fashion. Try an Autozone or Advance Auto if you can't get to a dealership (best place IMHO). I have an OLD predator that I use strictly for code scanning and diagnostics since I don't have Auto Engenuity which may be the next best thing to Ford's IDS.
They will get the standard, my term, codes but not the specialty codes such as abs and tranny. Our Autozone will no longer do code reading for the public. They said it came down from corp. Liability of people buying parts based on the reading and then not correcting the problem.
