This is a question for you guys that are running headers on your y-blocks.
What spark plug wires are you using? I need to find some that have an angled spark plug boot(either 45 or 90 degrees) to keep them off the headers, but I'm not having much luck other than the $150 ones... and that's not happening.
I don't know why a set of SBF cut-to-fit spark plug wires wouldn't work as long as they were for a distributor cap with female contacts.... but summit doesn't list them as working for a 292.
I just got the cut to fit ones at an auto store. I can't tell you which brand or anything, but they worked ok. I screwed up on one of them, so one of my spark plugs has the old wire on it.
Any stock replacement plug wires should work. If you're running an aftermarket ignition and need fancier wires, 8mm will fit the stock wire brackets. A wire much bigger and you'll need to come up with some other solution.
I've used universal 8mm Pertronix wires in the past with homemade brackets. Now I have 12mm Performance Distributors wires in homemade brackets. In both cases they more or less follow the stock routing.
