Anyone ever been pepper sprayed ?
We all got to experience tear gas when I went through Navy boot camp in 1976. We went into a chamber, donned gas masks, then the instructor set off the gas. No problem with the gas while wearing the mask. Of course, we were then instructed to remove the mask and recite the general orders BEFORE we could leave the chamber. Many of the guys, when they got outside would rub their eyes and that made it a lot worse. I put my hands in my pockets until the burning stopped. It was so we could have some knowledge of what to expect if we ever got into a situation where the 'enemy' used gas.
I have noticed several references to "Being Sprayed" as part of training, or getting certified. Can someone explain the theory behind this?
I have never heard of anyone being shot (on purpose) as any part of firearms training.
Well, actually, some special forces, (including those loveable French) Do get shot as part of training, granted it is with a vest, but it still hurts like hel, the purpose is to make you know what it feels like, as for getting shot, it is a mental game if you have already been shot, wht is getting shot again gonna do?
The U.S. Special Forces are also drowned as part of training, they are put under water until they dead, then revived...I mean if you have died once and come back, why worry about dying again?

Most agencies use simunition rounds in issue weapons in training. This hurts, and marks you - on clothing a color is released by the projectile, on skin it mixes with your blood and stings. The reasoning behind live fire is to give a person a sense of what it is like under fire. I have undertaken simunitions training, and have been shot in a live situation, and the two are very similar, other than the simunitions hurt more. (a bullet cuts you, then passes through - the simunitions just hit you hard, and push against you.)
