Help with reverse light switch

I am trying to install reverse switch for backup lights in my bumper. I have a switch with three prongs. I have one grounded, one to the lights and the middle one to the battery with a 30a fuse in the line. Every time I try to plug it to the switch, it pops fuse. I have it grounded at the firewall behind the hood where a factory ground is. I plan on hooking up the off road lights, but I have to get this figured out first.

What is the amp rating on the switch?

Why don't you just wire everything into the 7-way out back? Or do you want a manual override?

I would like a switch so I can turn it on without turning truck on.

They are 12v. 25 amp (I think). Threw away package.

Sounds like you have the ground wire on the switch backwards. Try moving it to the other outside lug, usually a brass color.
