Bad motor mounts?
Today while turning around in a driveway i reversed faster than normal and it caused my transmission shifter to move almost 6 inches(at the top) towards me. Is this motor mounts or a transmission mount or both or something entirely different? And is there any way to tell if they are bad other than the previous? Thank you for your time.

Stick shift makes it more difficult...
I would say pop the hood, stick it in drive and press on the brake and press the gas at the same time while some one stands outside looking to see what happens. BURNOUT! "na just kidden" Just a little to see what rocks.
Caution don't stand in front or under the vehicle while attempting a burnout!
It's probably your transmission mount. Can you get up under your truck and look at the mount? Does it look like its been moved? Does it look like it needs to be replaced?
Other then that I'm not an expert. I had to replace both motor and transmission mounts on my vehicle a few years back do to the same issue your having.

Yes when i got home i did the same hell i put here in 4wd low and held down the brake n let the clutch out slow and it just turned it just like it did when i was backing up and one i put the clutch in it stayed there and did not move back it took putting it in 1st then doing the same. Since my truck has a body lift the shifter for the transfer case almost does not clear the hole in the floor, so if it moves that much in rev how much in forward where it would press the shifter against the body and could cause some damage. since ill be replacing motor mounts should i just do the transmission as well to be safe? And is there any tips for replacing the motor mounts?

Cheap way: Wood Board under oil pan and floor Jack. Loosen the bolts on the Motor mounts and jack the motor up enough to clear the mounts.
More expensive way: Take the hood off and get one of those engine lift and just take the bolts out of the motor mounts and jack the engine up enough to clear the mounts,
Expensive way: Get some one else to do it for you.

Most the parts at Autozone are not as reliable as other parts store but they offer a life time warranty on must their products...So even if it only lasts a year you can always bring it back and get it replaced for free.
I had my truck since 1992 and the list of life time warranty parts just goes on. Good thing about Autozone is that all the warranties stay in the computer and all you need is a name and phone number...
hehe. Nothing like paying for part and knowing I can return it any time I want and get a replacement for free.
