when i put my truck in reverse, i get quite a bit of feedback from the shifter. not so much in any other gear. could this be anything other than the transmission mounts?
Lift the hood and look down at each side of the engine below the exhaust manifolds. You should see brackets on the frame with corresponding brackets on the engine block with the rubber engine mounts seperating the two.
You will need to jack the engine up a little to take the weight off of the mounts, unbolt the rubber mounts, remove then bolt in the new ones.
Might as well replace both while you are at it.

ditto, the 3rd is on the bottom/back of the trans. make sure everything is supported well before you place hands/arms in there
Hey guys... just wanted to reply and say I got this one fixed.
The left motor mount was hanging on for dear life. The right motor mount was completely shot, it came out in about 5 pieces. The transmission out is worn but still serviceable, so it is still in.
Thanks everyone for the input. I can now throw the truck into reverse and give it enough gas so the back tires spin out.
