Motor Mounts
I broke them both...now that...takes either supreme retardation, or they were already on their way out.
1996 F-150
4x4
M5R2
300ci (duh)
3.55 rear-end
I bought two brand new mounts from NAPA and I was able to install the driver-side with virtually no problem...the passenget side...now thats giving me ***** with the whole EFI intake hanging down, coupled with the exhaust, and the front axel....Does anybody know a good procedure to doing this side? I'm using basic tools (ramps, tranny jack, floor jack, wrenches).
Further more are there such thing as solid, or polyurithane motor mounts for the 300ci? cause honestly I do some dumb stuff with my truck and I really don't feel like replacing these again...
Thanks a bunch
Everyday I live in city it very busy but I can feel frame twist if I floor gas pedal to get in road which is very busy but never broke engine mount.
My mount seem to be harden rubber or polyurithane but color is black.
My truck is 79 f150 with 4x4 plus 4 speed.
i had a custom set made that is solid with a poly bushing from a leaf spring. i have no installed these yet but they look like the autofab mounts found on thier website.
I checked the autofab website and I poked around but I really didn't see anything especially for the 300ci inline six, they mainly had mounts for Jeeps and conversions to put a chevy in the jeep...I've been looking around for about a week for either solid mounts, or high performance polyurithane one...but of course nobody makes anything for the 300ci becuase its not a V8 and thereofre most people dont know of its full potential.
Milwaukee,
I was pulling a burried F-350 out of the mud (intelligence here: F-150....pulling a F-350 out of the mud...I got the guy out but it cost me my motor mounts) He was down to almost the frame rails.
I didn't know they were broken until I got back on the road and I noticed that the shift stick was moving an awful lot when I depressed the clutch, and also some growning vibrations. I don't have a digital camera...and I already tossed the driver side mount in the trash. I'll see if I can get you a picture though.
Did you hear snap when pull f350? I be scare if it happend to me then possible engine drop to road at 55 mph would be scare for me.
No I did not hear them crack, but thats probably because the F-350 and I were both pushing our motors. Thing is after we started getting some momentum he cut the wheel the wrong way and ended up using my truck as a huge anchor and I was driving forward on a dirt road, I think thats what did it because the chain acted like a big whip; it actually bent my class III hitch reciever.
The motor wouldnt hit the ground on mine because its a 4x4, worst case sinerio would be the motor dropping onto the front axle, plus the tranny is also supporting some of the burden or keeping the motor up right.
