just for a reman...shouldn't be more than $300 after they tank it, flux it, and inspect everything to make sure its up to par. assuming its a reputable shop of course. would be a good chance to do mild port and or polishing as well if you want her to breath a little better. its do-able at home if you get the kit for it. there's quite a few fellas here that have done it. i'll be doing mine in a couple weeks.
thanks kas for the info. It looks like it was just the head gasket.
The head is getting tanked and tweeked at the machine shop. fortunately no problems were found when the head was magnafluxed.
Good deal. I didnt have the same luck when mine was magnafluxed, had no idea it was cracked until then. Do what I wish I could've done, and get the ports cleaned up real, let that thing breathe.
I got the head back and I put it into the engine. What a job getting it back in. VANS!!!! They're pigs to work on because of the engine compartment.
I'm just trying to tune her right now. I think I got the timing a little out. It's a real b___ch finding the timing marks on the fan belt pulley with everything in the way up front in the engine compartment.
Anyway she's running. I managed to splash a little fresh ford corporate blue high temp. paint on the head and the valve cover. This ol' 300 looks as good as new. I will post some pics/videos tomorrow when I get a chance.
Go ahead and order a new thermostat housing if you have the pot metal one, Get the cast steel one. the heat cycle on the for mentioned are a pain in the ****.......They wheel crack...............
Hello folks, i have the frozen lower altenator bolt on my '94 f150. Its froze to the alt housing not froze to the bracket (meaning the bolt turned but the alt turned with it). Any amount of pb blaster was usless because you couldnt get it into the housing even with the red straw nozzle. I ended up shattering my altenator housing since I resorted to a large pipe wrench to get a bite on the bolt. Theres still some tailings of the housing left around the bolt but its about 19 degrees outside and Im doing it in my driveway so i havent quite got the bolt out but now I can sawzall it out/off tommorow. Busting that housing just cost me my core charge which is a bummer, but not having my rig on the road is costing me money everyday. Im also glad the alt housing broke and not the bracket.

Hope it works out for you. I think the engine bay on the '94s are a little different from my '91.
