Hey guys
I have no experience what so ever with the idi, any help will be greatly appreciated..
Anyway, going to go look at a non turbo 94 f350 cc 4x4. Has a 4" lift, good tires and nice rims. Xlt model. Overall from pics looks nice and clean with no major dents or scratches. I'd rate it a 7.5/10.
Here's the issues-original engine with 270k miles, and tranny has 100k since rebuild. It will start and move, but can't be driven because it needs vacuum pump, belt tensioner, and an idler pulley. The guy won't budge from $1500.00. is the truck worth the price as is?
TIA
you better head over tonight with cash in hand.it's likely to be sold tomorrow.
crew cab 4wd diesel trucks are scarce these years and therefore generally run more $ than another other combo by a large margin.
if its solid, fairly clean,it's worth $1500 without an engine or trans imho.
the D60 front axle sitting under the front for example generally sell for 1k alone if this helps.
be handy with a wrench or pass it up though.if you have to pay for work done to it,it'll eat ya alive.
to help you get the idea of this combo, look for one using "searchtempest.com" (you'll have to search all of the US to find enough to compare) that'll show ya how difficult of a combo this is to find in general, let alone one priced to move at that $.
a 2wd crew doesn't count, nor does any 4wd super cab 4wd f250's.nothing besides the exact f350 cc 4wd diesel combo will reflect the value.
At $1500, you would be stealing the truck from the seller. - You are in California too so I'm sure its solid. Rust free trucks with similar options are hard to find for under $5000 here.
At that price, I could care less. A way you can look at it is that things that were going to break (like the trans) have already been replaced. Engines for these trucks can be had cheap if you know where to look anyways. That thing is worth more than $1500 even without its engine.
I got my 89 CC 4x4 for 1800 with a wore out auto. and thought it was a steal. although since than i have done A LOT of work. and its paint is junk.

DAMN IT..... sometime, people just **** me off to the point I want to strangle them
.... So after the initial contact with the seller on Thursday, I think, I I tried contact him fri sat and Sunday... Called and emailed. Never got a response back. Monday morning around 9, I called again for giggles, and he FINALLY answered his phone....he said he just sold it 30 minutes prior.
WTF man, boy was I mad....
yup.when you see deals like this, you cant wait around.head to the bank asap for cash, and arrive on their doorstep with it in hand.
shake it off and just keep looking.you'll get the next one.
Thanks for the help! Mainly mid 90s and up, with the updated lights and interior.
IDI only go up through 94, and that year was mixed with the new Powerstroke 7.3 coming out; so you can have either depending on production date. 93 and earlier will be IDI for sure. 95 and newer will not be an IDI engine. Just to help your searching.
