Don't over look the simple stuff!!!
Original batteries-which he changed out this morning.
He said last night he went to crank it, and the lights were dim and it would barely turn over.
So I finally made it over there took my scanner and did some live data...
First thing I noticed it was only cranking at 120RPM which I knew wasn't enough, FICM was a solid 48v, I was first thinking starter but when I was cranking it I heard a squeak in the belt and he said that wasn't there when he parked the truck last night...
I remember Benny talking about a guy who replaced his motor due to a failed AC compressor, because it wasn't turning over fast enough or something...
Well, I made a mark on the AC compressor pully and had him turn it over and it didn't move slightly, so problem figured out, tool the belt off and wammo started it up like a champ.
So, here's my main question, he had PENDING codes for low injector circuit 1-8 cylinders, could that be from low batteries and cranking it over??
Second how hard is it to change out the AC compressor on the 6.0 I've done plenty on other trucks just never a 6.0.
Hopefully he still has the Warranty on it, it was an extended 6 year warranty, so we will keep our fingers crossed, but if it's expired I'll be doning the work and need any tips or pointers...
As far as the FICM goes, should I clear the pending codes and have him drive it for a little while after it gets fixed and see if they come back? If it goes to ford I'm sure they will replace it though. Like I said it was a solid 48 KOEO, went to like 47.5 cranking, so idk why the codes would be there from what I saw.
As always, thanks for any help
Iv read that it only takes 100rpm to start but you had 120rpm so IDK that kinda Blows that therory out the window
The DTC might just been from Low Batterys better have him Keep an eye on the FICM Hope it didnt damage it
Your Buddy should be happey the Guy we Talk about Replaced his Moter and the new one didnt crank the mechanic was stumped I mention that to him and they did the same as you take belt off and WHAMO started right up
there are other ways but for me its easer to pull the fan and stator. pull the negitive cable off the block and all you really have left is 2 10mm and 1 13 mm bolt.
Thanks for the Info Cheezit!!!
Id rep ya but Im in 24hour time out LOL
