Outside temp reading is incorrect on dash readout. Help?

My outside temp reads 68 deg. When I know it is about 98deg. Can I reset this or do anything to fix it. Thanks

Yep....Mine did it when they performed the transmission TSB. The sensor is in the bottom side of the passenger mirror. The dealer tried a replacement temp sensor from stock and got the same reading. They had no idea why it was getting the false reading. It corrected itself within a half hour on the way home that same day. Has not done it since.

Sure you're not reading the internal target temperature setting? You can toggle between outside temp and inside settings pretty easily (at leas on my 2012 Lariat).

I'm not reading the inside temp, I know how to switch between them. The temp does go up and down a few degrees.

If you're talking about the 2007 truck in your profile, the sensor is in the front of the truck on the plastic shroud next to the driver's side headlight. Check out this thread for a picture:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...re-sensor.html

Now this is just the sensor for the outside ambient air temp. I'm not sure if that's what's wrong with yours but it's good starting point. I don't recall any way of resetting that from any of the menus / settings in the EATC.

Sorry to ask a stupid question but is the unit set to Fahrenheit or Celcius?

Doubt its set to Celsius. 68*C would be 154*F!

Thanks. Truck is 06. This am. Read 68. Goes up to 75 then stops. I'll check the sensor.

after you replace the sensor it will stay at the same temp it was reading. when the truck is sitting still it will only go up 1 degree every 20 minutes, but when the truck is moving at least 30? mph it will adjust 1 degree evry 30 seconds or so

Got the the same problem with my 04 EXP. Temp reading would be ok at start up and idle, but as soon as I would get to highway speed it would creep up to 120 or so and stay there until I would stop and idle for a few minutes then it would slowly fall back down. Recently the thing reads 50 deg all the time.
Any thoughts?

Mine is off all the time too, 2006. Anyone have a part # for the sensor?

I think the cheapest thing to do before ordering new sensors is check the connector and wires for any corrosion. Corrosion is easy to clean and that could mess with the readings.
