oil cooler again!!!!
Usually things have a Core Charge if its going to be rebuilt
the problem with having a oil cooler recall is an OIL Cooler isnt a saftey Item Ford would have to do it out the Goodness of there HEARTS LOL
Chemistry simply does not change and if it works for some, it will work for everyone unless a failure of some kind is introduced. A knowledgeable water treating person on another forum has duplicated the gelling based on weak additive strength and excess heat (not silicates, but acetal polymers from glycol breakdown). That being said, Tex25025 has a TON of power, functioning EGR systems, OEM EGR cooler and oil cooler, and uses the Gold successfully. Chemistry can be the same for us as it is for him. It is not the terrible culprit (by itself) that it is blamed for.
The Gold is not robust - I definitely agree with that! Maybe ELC is more robust, but I have seen two cases of it gelling, so it is not perfect either.
That being said, ELC is a cheaper answer than an external oil cooler (and less maintenance than Gold).
It has a housing that fits on the (previous) oil cooler location and blocks it off (I think). The hoses to the OE cooler come from the new oil filter cap/housing, it has a billet mount/housing as well. EGR, negative. The round cooler was probably 70% plugged but not cracked or broken. I'll keep it just in case. I am working slowly on it right now, should have it buttoned up by first of next week, I'll post some results when it's all done. I have a SGII now and will be able to see what is happening.

But a Combination of alot of things
ELC seams to be Great for me so far OIl Cooler staying the same spread as when I installed it I also put the ELC in at the same time as the oil cooler
I did have a chance to run coolant filters with BOTH ELC & Gold
the Coolant filters with the ELC have been going further and I have always changed the same when Coolant filter return line dont get HOT like the supply side does
I never did see anything in the Gold Filters that Obviously plugged them In fact I saw nothing in the gold filters but they shure was clogged
If not you will plug the new one up and be in the same boat you are in now.
Keep monitoring the ECT/EOT while the filter is doing it's thing.
Replace the EOT sensor and see if it could be the culprit, if the reading are close to the same switch the ECT and the EOT sensors as I believe they are the same sensor and compare the reading.
Were you driving at the recommended speed and with no load (trailer or load in the bed) on the engine when you got the readings?
I could be wrong, but with those kind of outside temperatures and given the fact there is such poor air circulation under the hood of these trucks it may just be a case of not enough air circulation. The first day it cools down to around 90 to 95 look at again as see what your readings are.
