On the 2005 Superduty V-10 Iam going to install the oil temp gauge,
should I install the sender where the factory oil pressure sender is, I was going to install a T fitting there, or should I install it using a T-fitting going to the engine oil cooler?
The engine oil cooler is the smaller cooler behind the front bumper right?
What do you think?
Isn't the oil cooler like the pre-05 V10's, where coolant is routed to the oil filter adapter, and engine oil is NOT routed to a seperate cooler up front?
if you use a T for a temp reading it will be way off. you need flow to get temp. the oil cooler is simply 2 coolant hoses going into a adapter. the oil never goes to a external cooler.
The little cooler in the very front is the power steering cooler...at least it is on my '01. The tranny cooler is between the A/C condenser and the radiator....again, on my '01.

LOL..Well since my is an 01 also then I guess it is the P/S cooler..Next time I am under there changing the oil I have going to have to pay more attention..LOL..
Hey krewat can I borrow this "I've been wrong before, I'll be wrong again. Just wait and see"..LOL..
Soo... Is there another port hole on the V10 one could use to get an accurate Oil Temp?
Before anyone else replies, I've read here that the best place is in the oil pan. But that's not really possible without removing the pan and having a bung welded into it.
