engine exhaust gas temp

When Installed my new bellows up pipes I did it wrong and had a exhaust leak on the drivers side. Took off the turbo and re installed. I have no boost leaks but my exhaust gas temp is still hot. If I get on it hard it heats up to 1200 real quick. Like before I hit 70 mph.
Some of the things i did at the same time
fuel line cross over, changed the boots, Ported inlet for the turbo. rebuilt the tranny.
If my turbo is Bypassing to early would it cause the exhaust gas temp to run hot?
At what psi should my Waist gate bypass? The highest I see is 17 but then it shifts so I am not sure.
How do I check to see if it is bypassing at the right pressure?
Thanks

Based on the mods in your signature, I don't really see why you are concerned honestly, temps aren't that bad, assuming your pyrometer is pre-turbo.

But the one thing in your post that seems to stand out is the 17psi of boost, I would check for leaks, you should be getting more than that. How have you checked for leaks? Have you tried with the wastegate unhooked? Plug the red line?

I am having to back out or it will keep heating up. A hill I went over last year at 65 mph don't remember the pyrometer I am only making 45 mph and 1200. If I don't keep backing out it will run over 1300.
Yes I checked for boost leaks had one at 25psi and I fixed it.
If I unplug the wastegate will that tell me if it is not adjusted correctly if I make more boost. To unplug the wastegate do I just unplug and then plug the red hose?

If I do a WOT run I will hit 1200 degrees by 70mph but I will also hit 26 psi on the boost gauge on 80e. What tune were you using?

If you unplug the wastegate and go make a run to see how much boost it makes it can help track down what is going on.

The official spec on the EGT (as told to me by DP) is the exhaust should not go over 1250 degrees for 4 minutes or something like that. It makes perfect sense. Think of it this way: You open the oven when you're broiling garlic bread and it's hot on your face, but it's just for a few seconds. Now... stand there with your face in front of the open broiler for 4 minutes and you know what will happen. A flash of heat is no big deal because it takes time for the exhaust gasses to heat up the surrounding metal.

I have a pre-turbo EGT gauge - the sensor is threaded directly into the manifold. Click the very first link in my signature and you can see my gauges on an uphill WOT test. It was shot at full HD, so you can open it in full screen and select 1080P quality.

great vid that helps a lot. one of the problems I am having is my truck sat for almost a year as I saved up the money for the transmission. I do not remember how some of my gauges behaved. Your exhaust temp rose quickly like mine is doing. Also I did not run WOT very often. I am not making the boost you did. It drops off when I shift and I back out of it because of the temps. I would hit 1250 pulling my trailer over some mountain passes as soon as I got to 1250 I would back out never let it run more that a a second or two.

Whats the complaining? I thought you.."luvemhot"...sorry, had to post it.

You try a different gauge or removed the prometer to clean? Mine, from pop'n the turbo, had baked oil on it, and from cleaning, seemed to have helped the reading out on my gauge.
