Wondering if anybody knows anything about the brake controller that came already installed in my truck. Its an 03 and dont know when it was installed but I cant find any information online about it. All I know is it is a draw tite activator III and there is a k232 sticker on it, I would say is the model #. Never seen one like it because the controller is mounted behind my fuse panel so its never seen and there is a hand held piece with a telephone cord on it that plugs in, which it where you adjust the settings. I was going to install my old activator II but maybe this activator III is just as good or better..biggest trailer I will be pulling is 2 axle 4 brake trailer..Thanks

There are several controllers out there that had a tethered activation so you could hold the manual activation in your hand rather than reach for it. That being said, controllers are always supposed to be mounted where they can be reached and seen. I owned one with an optional tethered component, but never used it in that configuration. What you have should work fine, but I would l still move the controller.
Thanks for responses. Redford my controller is different than the normal activator III, although that is the name, its a different model. It looks more like a cb than a controller. The main unit doesnt have any buttons or display on it, its on the hand held part. I am sure it is still a good unit, just have never seen one. I had a activator II in my other truck and it worked great. I just think its odd I cant find anything online about this other one, wonder if it didnt work well so they quit making it, if so i will pull it out and put the other one in.

Is this a controller that works like a Prodigy RF controller?
Here is a picture I found online of the exact one ive got. It is made I guess so that you can hide the main box. Just wondered how good they work or if i should install my older activator II.

I have no reason to believe its braking ability is not satisfactory, but have a genuine concern about one's ability to activate this controller in an emergency.
yeah, i am not sure I am real fond of this unit, that's why I was asking if anyone else had any input. I do like how I can leave the main box mounted out of sight though, but then the remote is going to be flopping around like a cell phone on a charger!..

That would be my concern. I know, if it were me, sooner or later I would forget I was holding it and drop it under the seat of something.
