Need to buy a brake controller to pull a 3 horse all steel trailer. I called a local shop and they said they had a led type and all digital. I'm very familar with electronics and understand that led is light emitting diode but I'm confused what the difference is between and led type and all digital brake controller. is it just the display or is there difference in the brake action??? What is a good brand of controller. Please help may need the controller this weekend. Oh yea this is being used on a 02 excursion 7.3L and a 03 F250 6.0L .. Thanks.
for aftermarket B/C's I like the drawtite some like prodigy.. both really good. Tekonsha also has one available, mostly by personal preference/budget. The drawtite has digital readout, and degrees of delay etc... I'm waiting for my 05 to come in with the fully integrated to see how it pulls./stops.
well you should get a Prodigy brake controller. Easy to install if you buy the correct wireing harness for your truck. There are other good ones but i think you will be happy with this. Look for it on E-bay or amazon.com. Usualy less than a $100 for the controller, don't know how much for the harness. Good Luck.
I've also had several types of controllers over the years. Since the advent of the Anti-Lok brake systems and the resulting inabillity to use the actual hydraulic pressure, I have never had an electronic controller WITHOUT some kind inertia sensing that was suitable.
I am now using a Tekonsha Sentinal control and I am very satisfied with it. I would assume that the Prodigy would even be better, although I can't find anything wrong with the one I have.
