Won't do that again
- new fuel filters
- new air filters
- coolant tests
All of that went very well, and btw, the DCFM bowl was clean, no foreign matter.
Decided to degrease the engine. Thats when things went south. Used a degreaser on cold engine. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then used a low pressure hose with garden sprayer to rinse off. Fired the engine up when completed, and took her for a drive to heat things up to dry quicker. First thing I noticed was A/C was not working well. Took compressor some time to come on. A couple hours later got in the truck to run some errands, and there was a CEL(that wasn't there the first drive a couple hours earlier). Hooked up the code reader, and got a P0113 - IAT sensor high input code. Reset the code, has not come back on yet, but will keep an eye on things. Same with the A/C. Maybe things were just wet, and won't happen again, we'll see....
Engine compartment does look nice, though.
I generally hose down the underside of the hood, wipe with a rag anything dusty on the engine and firewall. Then I hose it down and let it sit overnight. Never had the urge to use a cleaning chemical. I treat it like any other sensitive device, if it gets wet make sure it's completely dry before giving it any power again.
I will say that after two years the only mess under the hood is dust. No oily residue anywhere so cleaning is pretty easy.
I can say that things seem fine now. Also, not sure if the P0113 was caused by unplugging the sensor when changing the air filter or not. Hard to say. Mostly likely not, since everything was shutdown when I was changing it out. As for the A/C I'm thinking the belt was just wet/soapy and could have been slipping a little?
I got an engine light from the mass air flow sensor on the intake tube once, it's a little fragile for the reality of where it is and the need for unplugging it to check the air filter. My little clip broke a long time ago so now it gets a zip tie to hold it tight.
I doubt the belt was slipping, that would be pretty tough to do.
