coolant overflow issue

coolant overflow issue
ok so i have a 76 f250 with a 460 and whenever I stop and turn the truck off the coolant spills out of the overflow hose. It keeps happening and when I checked my coolant it was about half full. So Im wondering if anyone has had this issue or is it normal?

These trucks don't have a coolant recovery system on them. If you fill the radiator up to the top, when it gets warm the coolant expands and runs out the overflow. Once it cools down and contracts the upper tank is now "low".
This is normal.
The normal "full" level is about an inch to an inch and a half below the filler neck.
