I gat a 1979 ford F-150 302 with motorcraft 2150. i the truck was running ok , but took of carb and rebuilt put it back on it fired up then died. The truck would not start back, i think it was flooding out. so i took the carb back off to check everything and put back on. Now the carb float bowl is not filling up i cranked it over a bunch and no go. so i took fuel filter off and tried again and nothing. can anyone help with this issue....
You need to check the float again and make sure it is not binding or touching the side walls or the needle could be stuck in the seat. Check it for damage and correct fuel level adjustment.
I know when i rebuilt my 2150, some how the needle was stuck open, so when the truck was running, i had gas pouring out of the vent tubes like mad.
I tapped on the side of the carb, and that seemed to set it straight.
You might want to make sure your fuel pump is working as well.
Sometimes old rubber fuel lines can get very soft after soaking in gas for a while... almost like they were made out of cellophane. The fuel pump can suck them shut. I'd check/replace every inch of rubber fuel line.
Thanks guys for all the information. found out it was fuel pump. now another problem. the threaded part of the fuel pump is now leaking fuel. its the Return line on the fuel pump. cna i just use a rubber hose or do i need the metal one. i tryed to get one but they dont have anything that will it other than rubber hose. thanks
Return line on the fuel pump?
You should have one coming in ( from the frame) then one coming out, running up to the carb.
I don't think there is a return line. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.
Rubber hose is okay,i always change mine to that, have been for years. I do put a fuel filter before and after the fuel pump. I haven't had any fuel deliver problems for years unless a pump dies on me.
