I am having an intermitent problem with my f100, the carb no longer gets fuel and dies. I have a clear inline fuel filter just in front of my carb. I can see fuel spirting into the fuel filter, then it will stop and within a few seconds obviously the engine dies. After letting it sit for some time, sometimes I can restart... sometimes not. Within a few minutes the fuel stops pumping in again.
I swapped out the mechanical fuel pump twice, no luck.
When I swapped out the fuel pump gas is pouring out of the line from the fuel tank... plenty of flow.

What else can I check?
Sounds like the carb needs rebuilt or your float is getting stuck. Try tapping the top of the carb with a socket. Dont hit it hard or else you will crack the carb.
Started it up tonight, drove a few miles to the gas station and it was running great. Topped off the tank, drove around for another 10 minutes and it started stuttering and died.
Managed to get it started, drive 300 yards, died. Crank for 10 minutes, got it started drive 300 yards died. Was able to get it home by doing that 15 times.
Pulled into the driveway and it was running, so I left it running... damn thing idled for 15 minutes before it finally sputered a few times and died.
This is so intermittent, happens cold, happens hot, happens with empty, half full, and full gas tank.
What is vapor lock?
I was wondering if I have a hole in a line somewhere, but then why would I be able sometimes to drive for 20 minutes with no issues?
If you have a hole somewhere, you'd smell gas everywhere. Try pulling the feed off the carb - aft of your clear filter - connect a line from it to a can...have someone crank her over an watch the flow - continuous, good flow? = no boogered up feed line, right?
Rebuilt carb, you say ... They don't have those little brass filters in the carb inlet anymore, do they? Ok....could be the needle valve attached to the float is not seated right on the float / inlet causing a "sticky" float, as mentioned before. Hopefully the float doesn't have a pinhole in it - could cause the problems described.
Vapor lock is usually a running in the heat issue. Headers? Use header wrap, carb spacer, and insulating the fuel lines. And make sure the routing is away from the hot stuff.
Fuel sending unit pick up tube end in the tank has a filter on it (sock) it is clean? Have you ever cleaned the tank? Are your rubber fuel lines in good shape?
Are you using FI (fuel injected) quality fuel lines, fuel pump might be bad or going bad again. Those are usually a good or bad deal though.
Try running the truck from a alternate fuel source, 5 gal can setting on the bumper and see what happens, I have even driven like that to trouble shoot it.
Ck your coil and elec ing box lately? Yes ck for spark/power next time it acts up.
