AMBIENT (OUTSIDE) TEMPERATURE SENSOR NOT INSTALLED

2012 F-350 Diesel is supposed to come with an outside temp sensor but the dash software under "Information" does not provide that as an option to select. Ford specs indicate it's standard on the Lariat. Dealer says if software doesn't show it as an option then it wasn't installed (I think the Voice also said it wasn't installed) but he doesn't know why. I don't know where to look for it to see if maybe it's just not connected (?). Any suggestions? Thanks!

If you recently got The truck I would go back to the dealer and have them install it. It should be fee if it was included In the package but never instakled

Forgot to mention truck came with navigation system. Seems the Sirius Travel Link (free only for six months) has a detailed weather function including temperature that you access from the nav screen. So I'm guessing that Ford deleted their sensor.

^^^What Matt said. The temperature is displayed on the climate controls rather than on the driver info screen or the nav screen. Hit the "EXT" button on the climate control panel and it will display the current exterior temperature.

The Travel Link stuff is all data downloaded to your unit from Sirius, it doesn't use any temperature sensors on the truck nor has any affiliation with the EXT button on the HVAC controls.

EXT (external) button = Fords outside temp sensor (which I believe is behind the passenger side rear view mirror, or somewhere near there).

Press it, I double dog dare ya..

Towing a 2013 Heartland Bighorn 3585RE weighing 13,000# empty and 38'3" long. A big step up from our old SUV and a 28' travel trailer. But it was an easy transition to the fifth wheel and the truck has so much power it hardly seems to matter.
