Hey all, just wondering if i would be able to grab a radiator out of something else to replace my old 1972 radiator. Like the 1995 Taurus alternator swap, maybe a 2001 F250 would fit.. If anyone knows one that will swap over, i could use a cheap more efficient replacement. Thanks!
1967/72 F100/350 V8's: There are four different radiators, two different fan shrouds and TWO different radiator supports.
The Super Cooling Radiator (SC/R) is much larger than the standard, xtra cooling and A/C radiators, so the SC/R support has a larger opening radius, the fan shroud is specific to it.
Since the SC/R support has a larger opening radius, the mounting flanges of the other three radiators will not bolt to it.

Is that just for V8s or does it include the six cylinder core support for the tiny radiator?

Well that sucks... So even if i wanted to upgrade i would have to fab up new supports? My truck is an F250, shouldnt it have the heavy duty one in it? I have a 160 degree thermo in there now because the temp likes to climb when idling after driving for a bit. I got in the other day after driving for a half hour and letting it idle for 15 minutes and the temp gauge was pushing 210..
Go back to basics. How clean is the outside of radiator? Is there anything impeding airflow into it like a spare tire mount? How clean is the inside? Has it been rodded/flushed recently? How many rows of tubes does it have? You could have it recored for more tubes, or get an aftermarket that will have more rows of tubes that can fit in the same space. Check Modine.
Go to the scrap yard with your measurements and eyeball some of the newer radiators to see if they could fit maybe with minor mods. New ones for your truck run around $300.
The subject has me thinking and trying to sort out 20 year old experiences. I re worked a couple 72s. One was my trusty old F-250 with a 300 and the other was a 72 F-100 with a 302, both 2wd. 2 different core supports and neither was super cooling.. I was restoring the F-250 and using the good used front clip on the wrecked F-100. I couldn't use the core support from the six, the opening and mounts were just too small IIRC.
These radiators will bolt right in. They are humungous compared to the standard one. IDK if the are considered xtra or s/cool (I assume xtra because they bolt in?)
I think i will do the junkyad walk, it costs only $2 to get into any pick-n-pull around here, and they sell their stuff super cheap. Maybe i can do that tomorrow...

The SC/R (Super Cooling Radiator) is 26 1/4" x 24 1/8" uses a unique radiator support.
The SC/R fan shroud (1967/76 FE: C7TZ-8146-B) is different than the non SC/R fan shroud (1967/76 FE: D3TZ-8146-C replaced C8TZ-8146-K).
