Been reading as time allows. Looks like over $1000 for a chip. Wasn't prepared for that. I need bigger exhausts, intake mods, gauges, might as well look at a new split bench seat. The leather on these buckets are wore out and my wife doesn't like that junk grabber that keeps here ffrom sitting next to me anyway. Might as well replace the carpet and it needs a paint job.
Let's see what's cheaper restoring this truck or buying a new one? Only had to think for second on that one. Plus my '99 looks better than the fugly ones they're stamping out today. Restore & mod it is.
after riding in Cory's truck at RRE 2011 i there was no looking back
Matt from Gearhead will be tuning every vehicle i own an maintain from now on
I currently have 2 chips on the way to him now
greg from ct is also running his tuning and his truck is very smoooth and surprisingly powerful for a stock stuck
now for the best part when you order a chip from matt you get a ts style 6 pos chip and switcher with 6 tunes for $475 with unlimited lifetime reburns if you ever change setups
matt is also in TX which is very convenient for you
The $1000 was after I went through the DP selection process and ended up with 12 or so separate codes. I realize it's possible to spend around half or even less, for a simpler chip. It's just hard to resist some of those profiles they offer!
But I haven't found that $295 6 code chip from PHP, I'll look at their site closer and see what I find.

With the DP F6, you have the easy option of going simple at first (like I did), then add as you learn how you drive the tunes. You may or may not ultimately go with all twelve, but this also prevents a big hit up-front. I have 9 total and I don't foresee adding anything more, unless Jody comes up with a two-stage tune. Imagine having an economy tune the first 3/4 of throttle, then the power goes insane when you floor it to pass. How difficult would it be to stay out of it?
