Transmission leak!!!
I have a 1978 F100 with a 302 and a C4. The transmission
has always leaked when it’s sitting still a small amount, but not enough to worry about. I have only driven the truck about 40 miles over a 2 year period, but I do move it around the garage at least once a month. It recently started leaking a very good bit. When it’s sitting still parked, it doesn’t leak much at all. When you’re backing it out of the garage, it pours fluid out, like a drop every foot or so. When it’s in drive it leaks about a drop every 4 feet or so, and once it warms up it gets better. It leaks from the little round hole pictured below on the drivers side of the transmission. I took the governor cover off (it’s off in the pic) to check the O-ring on it, and it looks fine. I’m going to re-install it tomorrow with some RTV, but I don’t think it will fix it. I’m also going to put some Lucas transmission stop-leak in it. Any suggestions for what could be leaking? Is something above the governor that could be leaking fluid down the transmission? here's a pic to show where it's leaking.
