'06 F250 Stroker here. I was going to try to get my transmission serviced within the next week. Would you all recommend the dealer or is it something that I can go to somewhere like AAMCO for? If I go to the dealer is there is anything special I am to ask for? Like do I Want a "drain and fill" or is the word "transmission service" pretty much have the same meaning across the board?
I'm assuming this is an auto? The TorqShift tranny requires a heated flush machine to get all the fluid so it's most likely a dealer only service. 2006, I think, should still have the external TP filter up by the front bumper, make sure they change that as well. "Tranny service" should include all of that. Might double check them on the external filter though, newer ones don't have that.
Another thing, make sure they use ONLY Mercon LV fluid. There was a member a few days ago that had a dealer (yes, a Ford dealer) put some other junk in when he had a flush done.

Thank you for the information, and yes it is an auto tranny!
A Torqshift takes special equipment to flush. A chain or neighborhood shop usually will not have this equipment. The fluid must be heated to open up the thermostat in the transmission so all of the fluid can be flushed. If a shop says they can do this, the next question is what fluid will they use? If they say anything besides Mercon LV (or maybe SP) ask them to PROVE that the fluid is compatible. Do not take their word, as incompatible fluid will cause your transmission to fail.

I am just going to take it to the dealer and call it a day.

Good idea, but still make sure they are using Mercon LV. See this thread, this guy went to a Ford dealer and they put the wrong fluid in, but insisted it was fine and refused to replace it with Mercon LV.

Not all dealers have a heated flush machine either. Make sure to ask if they have the proper heated flush machine along with the proper fluid.
Your best bet is to find a dealer that has a truck shop that is separate from the regular maintenance area as these tend to know the service requirements that are unique to the Super Duty.
