Injector Pump replacement. Any tips?

I took the gear off but it was clearly marked. The truck is on time in that respect. I advanced the timing a dimes width yesterday and she started running a little better but all the symptoms mentioned above still persisted. I have been thinking that it might be injectors.
The reman pump came from O'reilly's. I have been told by two reputable sources that they believe the new pump is not working properly. They claim that it is difficult to get a good IP around here. And being I got a bad fuel pump and bad IP from O'rielly's this week it seems likely.
