I would go to the pre turbo 7.3L forum, see if you can get some more responses there. I, however, couldnt tell you. sorry.

I also recommend going to the pre-powerstroke forum on this board. I have never repplaced the pump, but highlights that I have gotten from reading the posts in that forum are;

Be very careful with the injection lines and try not to bend them. I believe some people recommend taking the lines off the injectors, and then taking them out with the pump.

You will need a special wrench, or you may have to heat and bend your own, since there is a bolt or two that is very hard to reach.

Before you unbolt the pump, make a note of the timing marks on the pump. Here's a link with some help on timing the pump. http://www.members.shaw.ca/k2pilot/

While you are messing around with the lines and injectors, you may disturb the little hoses and caps on top of the injectors. If you do, and they are old, they may start leaking, so you might consider getting a return line kit and replace them while you are at it. They may not actually leak, but they may let air in the fuel system, giving you the old start then stop, and then won't start again syndrome.

Try the pre-powerstroke forum as suggested. However here`s how I did mine. Undo all the pipe unions at the injectors. Unplug the electrical connections. Remove the little plate on the front of the timing gear housing and mark the position of the gear wheels. Undo the bolts holding the housing that the injector pump is bolted to and lift pump streight off. You can then undo all the injector pipes from pump and unbolt pump from housing after removing drive gear. If you do it this way it is vital that the engine is not turned over untill pump is refitted otherwise you will have to time it from scratch. Good luck.
