So I have a 1999 f250 SD & I just purchased & installed a set of SPYDER halo projector headlights for it. I found a site that sold them with HID kits already pre installed. Since I wanted to go HID anyway I figured this was the way to go but I am not impressed with how they work. The lights have one projector style lamp (which i assumed would be the brights but r actually dims) & one regular looking lamp that is the brights. For having HID bulbs in the projector lamp it is not very bright at all! Does anybody have any experience with these type of lights & does all this sound right? I contacted the place I bought them from but still waiting for a response so I thought I'd ask the experts :0). Thanks for your input guys
You have to use HID's in projector housings or you'll blind everybody else on the road. They won't appear that bright when you look at them head on but should produce more light than the factory headlights.
What watt are the hids? They are low with the projector because the projector doesn't allow the light to scatter, for when you pass oncoming traffic (lows). Highs really can scatter all they want, shouldn't be on when traffic is coming.
I do not know anything about that brand but I can tell you 99% of aftermarket projectors SUCK, I have used them in the past and I have never ever had good experiences. They are made for looks and style not function.
Also someone said above you can not use halogen bulb in a projection headlight. This is false, plenty of automobiles comes factory with projectors and halogen bulbs. I know this because I own one.

i've never read of anyone having any luck with eBay special projectors and HID's. to work correctly you gotta spend the big bucks unfortunately.
As its been stated all aftermarket Projectors SUCK ! 99.9% use a plastic projector that actually hurts the light output. The only way to do a correct projector is a true retrofit with a stock / factory projector from a Acura TL / Infinity FX or any other true Bi-Xinon headlight.
Also you can use a Standard halogen bulb in them and most times will produce a better light output because they are further from the projector so allow it to work better. There are 2 sizes of HID's aftermarket " Standard " most commonly purchased and rebased bulbs put into factory halogen housing and " Short " these are generally added to aftermarket projectors due to the bulb spacing on the projector lenses.
All projectors will cut the light output a bit, would be nice to know what kind of hids are installed right now, could try a higher watt, better brand hid kit in your projectors.
HID wattage should not matter, your standard HID kit is 35watts and they are many times brighter than a halogen bulb, if he is having issues with a 35watt kit the issue is the projector housing, not the HID kit.
My last set of HIDs came from eBay and I paid less than $20 shipped, and they came from a USA seller (made in China, but in stock here). They work great, they light looks the same to me when compared to any high end car. The only difference is that mine are in the reflector housing and I do not get the clean crisp cut off line that a quality projector gets.
Not all kits are the same, I have 55 watt retro solutions 6000k in my truck that blow away the cheap china kits I used before. Just because its an hid kits doesn't mean its of good quaility or light output.

I said that you shouldn't use HID's in non-projector headlight assembly's, halogens will fit in anything though.
