HID Headlights

I'm going to be taking the Ex on the road for Thanksgiving and wanted to upgrade the headlights. I did a search and found that some folks are using the 9007 bulbs. The owners manual say's 9008. Is there a difference?

Also what brand would you recommend? I'm looking for something easy to install. I would also like to upgrade the fog lights if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks,

Please don't use HID unless you upgrade the headlights to projector beam style headlights first. The regular headlights don't have a direct enough cut-off pattern and you WILL be blinding oncoming traffic. ALL vehicles that have HID from the factory have projector beam headlights.

There is a difference, just head over to walmart and get yourself some Sylvania Silverstars. They really light up the road and look awesome

You'll spend close to $40 for the 9008s and a little less for the 9005s (fogs), but it's money well spent.

I must disagree here because I don't have projector headlights and my HID's have a cut off line, and they are bright.

Well, lets see them. Pull up to a garage or wall and take a picture.

I bet they aren't even close to as direct of a cutoff pattern as a projector beam.

The Silverstars ARE the best way to light up the road without going the HID route.

there are different makes of the stock housing, several are fine when installing HID bulbs, a small shim will correct any scatter that is seen.

Silverstars are nice, I had them, in my case when driving down to the beach with sand on the road, the whiter color however washed out the details, I ended up going with Hella bulbs with twice the output and $12 each

Twice the output? Got proof?

And once again, I say if the stock headlights work, lets see some pictures of the cutoff pattern.

hmm...rated at twice the output, the current draw doubles...

I think it's time you started doing a little research before you start calling people out, have you never seen a bulb with twice the output of stock?

Afraid I dont, I had HID's in mine but the bulbs blew prematurely and now I have to ship them back to Germany to get replacements.

I may get some silverstars in the meantime, but Munkey has some nice pics in his garage

Thanks,
I went with a company called Xenith Xenons, great prices, absolutely outstanding customer service, very simple installation.

Xenith Xenons - Superior Quality HIDs and World-Renowned Customer Service! See For Yourself Today!

Here is the link, they even have an application guide on the left hand side of the site, that will tell you for sure what bulb you need.

I have HID lights in the headlights as well as fogs and they are BRIGHT for sure. I don't ever have anyone oncoming flashing me except occasionally a prius or something like that while occasionally waiting at a light to turn left or something. usually happens only in suburbia :-) and not downtown or out over the road. The one thing I do notice is that everytime I pull up behind someone at a stop sign or traffic light it trigger an immediate flip of the rear view mirror. With a 6" lift I got that before but with the HID's it's everytime! Makes a world of difference and makes me wonder why I didnt do it sooner.

UPDATE*****

I actually changed out my HId kit today. Went with a different kit that actually has a motorized bulb for high and low and much more clearly defined line of where the beams cut off much like a projector would. Haven't had a chance to get to check them out at night but am driving to seattle tonight so that should be a good test.
