I was just wondering if the clunking problems people were having with the EPAS system after installing leveling kits has gone away now that everyone is told to disconnect the battery cables to depower the system? Or is the problem still there even when following the disassembly instructions?
What clunking problem? At least with my truck, there's been no clunking. And I've never powered down the system.
I was reading on here shortly after the EPAS trucks hit the road that people were having trouble with them after doing suspension mods. It turned out that the EPAS was being damaged during disassembly of the front end. Something about the shock of banging on parts causing an electrical arc that would short out the power unit.
I haven't read of that one. I have heard of issues with the upper control arm coming in contact with the strut under certain drving conditions for people using non-offset leveling spacers.
I was the first to discover the issue and Rough Country changed the instructions after I brought it to their attention. No issues since and I have 34000 miles on it. Would not hasitate doing the next truck.
